19-25th September: the ANU School of Music will be presenting Musica Antica, “A festival of early music to inspire the mind and enliven the senses.” During this festival a great number of the lecture-demonstrations will be made available to remote audiences via videoconference. This is an opportunity to engage with both visiting and internationally video-conferenced experts as they present their insights on composers, playing techniques, and performance practices of the music of the past.  Videoconference participants will be able to view the presentation as part of the extended live ANU audience, and interact in a Q&A session with the presenter at the end of the event.

The events are open to anyone with an interest in music, from performance and pedagogy, to theory and analysis, or more general music appreciation. While the academic content will be most suited to tertiary level students and teachers, they will also be of interest to upper high-school music students and teachers. Connection costs range from $125 to $135, with additional discounts for multiple bookings (artist fees have been generously subsidised by the ANU Early Music Festival). A flyer with these events and times is attached, or for more information visit www.music.anu.edu.au/vc <http://www.music.anu.edu.au/vc> .
